Eggs Vice President Brian Moscogiur explains why egg prices will continue to fly while the explosion of bird flu slows production.
Walmart’s chief of finance said the retailer has been able to keep his egg -equipped shelves despite absence nationwide, which has forced some companies to impose acquisition restrictions.
“Really really important to provide security for our clients so they can come and get the items they want,” Walmart chief John David Rainey told Fox Business. “We’ve been lucky enough to be able to do it, so far.”
Since Tuesday, Walmart confirmed to Fox Business that he has not added any country -scale shopping limits, except to a 60 -point card that has been limited to only six per client online.
“Although the supply is very tight, we are working with suppliers to help meet the customer’s demand while we try to keep the prices as low as possible,” Walmart said.
The absence led prices to climb 15.2% in January, according to the Labor Department Consumer Price Index. This marked the highest increase in egg prices since June 2015 and made up nearly two -thirds of the total monthly growth of food prices, the Department of Labor reported.
In recent weeks, restaurants and nutrients have added additional or limiting the number of eggs that customers can buy as explosions of The very pathogenic influenza, Or the bird’s flu, destroy the supply of American eggs. The industry has been fighting bird flu since the beginning of the explosions in 2022.

Egg production in the US falls as prices continue to rise along with cases of bird flu
The restrictions were implemented in the midst of a rage bargain. In recent weeks, viral videos have come to the surface showing buyers collecting eggs. A video tiktok claimed that a whole whole of the eggs in a costco had been emptied in less than 10 minutes.
It’s not just the impact of buyers. Sean Kennedy, Executive Vice President of Public Affairs for the National Restaurant Association, previously told Fox Business that bird flu is making eggs just as expensive for restaurants-especially the morning-focused foods.

“Eggs go to many different types of dishes, but the price increase is especially difficult for restaurants focused in the morning to manage,” Kennedy said. “When shortages like this, operators work closely with their food suppliers to determine how it will affect them. There are some options that operators consider, from changing their menu to raising their prices.”

Waffle House, a southern breakfast of breakfast, added a 50-cent temporary for egg addition to its entire menus. The company blamed the constant lack of eggs for dramatic egg prices, saying “consumers and restaurants are being forced to make difficult decisions”.
